Qatar Denounces Houthi Strikes Targeting Saudi Arabia in Strong Statement

by admin477351

Qatar has strongly denounced a series of Houthi attacks on civilian and economic locations in southern Saudi Arabia, aligning itself with the Kingdom and endorsing its actions to safeguard national security and sovereignty. This condemnation was communicated by Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani during a phone conversation with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan. The discussion also covered recent regional developments and diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions and promoting stability in the area.

The targeted assaults occurred in areas such as Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, and Najran, resulting in injuries to 73 civilians, including women and children, and temporarily affecting some energy facilities. Qatar labeled these attacks as a significant escalation and a breach of Saudi sovereignty and international law. Consequently, Doha urged the international community to adopt more decisive measures against such aggression and to support the enforcement of relevant UN Security Council resolutions pertaining to Yemen and security in the Red Sea.

The incident highlights escalating tensions between the Houthis and Saudi-backed forces, sparking fears of a broader conflict. The Houthis, who maintain control over Sanaa and significant portions of northern Yemen, have increased their attacks on Saudi territory and vessels navigating the Red Sea. Meanwhile, forces aligned with the Yemeni government have launched counteroffensives against Houthi-held regions.

These developments underscore the fragile nature of regional stability and the importance of diplomatic interventions to prevent further escalation. Qatar’s call for international involvement reflects a growing consensus on the need for a unified response to maintain peace and security in the region.
