Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah emphasized the pivotal role of younger generations during the opening of the 11th Global Forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations in Riyadh on Sunday. Describing them as “leaders of the future and messengers of peace,” the Minister highlighted their essential contribution to fostering a tolerant world.

A Platform for Dialogue and Vision 2030

Saudi Arabia is hosting the forum under the theme: “Two Decades of Dialogue for Humanity: Advancing a New Era of Mutual Respect and Understanding in a Multipolar World.”

In his opening address, Prince Faisal affirmed that hosting the event signals the Kingdom’s support for UN efforts to promote peaceful coexistence among diverse cultures. He noted that Saudi Vision 2030 reflects a national commitment to moderation, openness to other civilizations, and a firm opposition to extremism and hate speech.

High-Level Attendance and Youth Focus

The forum was attended by prominent figures including UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Miguel Angel Moratinos, High Representative for the UN Alliance of Civilizations.

Prince Faisal expressed particular pleasure at the strong youth participation in the hall, stating, “It can be said that this UN Alliance of Civilizations forum is a forum for youth.” To support this focus, a dedicated youth forum will be held alongside the main event. Additionally, the venue will host the graduation ceremony for the eighth cohort of the Salam Project for Civilizational Communication’s Young Leaders Qualification Program.

The forum aims to review two decades of global dialogue efforts while planning future collaborations to enhance international peace and stability.
