Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Türkiye have agreed to enhance military and intelligence cooperation in response to increasing attacks by Yemen’s Houthi forces. The chiefs of staff from the three nations convened in Riyadh on Friday to discuss bolstering support for Saudi Arabia and improving coordination under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, initially signed in August.

During the meeting, military officials assessed the regional security landscape and committed to improving the integration of their defensive capabilities. They reaffirmed their pledge to collective defense, emphasizing the protection of Saudi Arabia’s security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

The discussions occurred amid a surge in Houthi attacks targeting Saudi interests and infrastructure. The Houthi group has also carried out assaults on shipping routes in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, escalating regional security concerns.

In a separate meeting, Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman met with Pakistan’s army chief, Asim Munir, to discuss recent attacks on Saudi Arabia and strategies to fortify joint defense measures.

The Makkah Joint Defence Agreement stipulates that an armed attack against any of the three countries is considered an attack against all. It also calls for expanded defense cooperation and enhanced collective deterrence capabilities.

This latest meeting represents an effort by Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Türkiye to operationalize the defense agreement through practical military and security cooperation.
