Saudi Arabia and France Partner on Library Digitization and Professional Training

by admin477351

Saudi Arabia and France are set to deepen their collaboration in the library sector, focusing on digital preservation, knowledge exchange, and professional training. This initiative follows a recent meeting in Riyadh between Abdulrahman Al-Asem, CEO of the Saudi Libraries Commission, and Patrick Maisonnave, the French Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.

The discussions centered around an executive program that the Saudi Libraries Commission is developing with the National Library of France. This program aims to digitize library materials, facilitate the exchange of electronic copies, enhance digital collections, and provide training opportunities. Such measures are expected to bolster the library infrastructure in both nations, fostering a more robust exchange of knowledge and resources.

In addition to immediate goals, the two parties reviewed plans for joint projects slated for 2026. These projects aim to expand cultural and knowledge-based cooperation, reflecting the broader diplomatic and cultural ties between Saudi Arabia and France.

This collaboration underscores a mutual commitment to advancing library services and adapting to the digital age. By focusing on areas such as digitization and professional training, both countries aim to enrich their library systems and provide better access to information for their populations.
