Russia’s “Make in India” Pitch: From AK-203 to Su-57 Fighter

by admin477351

Russia has significantly expanded its “Make in India” defense pitch, outlining a clear path from current joint production of AK-203 rifles to the future co-production of the Su-57 fifth-generation fighter jet.

Ambassador Denis Alipov celebrated the “shared achievements” of this model, including BrahMos missiles, Su-30 MKI jets, T-90 tanks, and naval frigates, all being produced in India.

He pledged that this collaboration “will continue to expand,” with the Su-57 offer being the next major step. This move is also intended to support India’s indigenous AMCA fighter program.

This defense-centric diplomacy comes at a crucial moment. The US has imposed 50% tariffs, partly as a penalty for India’s Russian oil purchases, which Donald Trump now claims will stop.

By emphasizing “full technology-sharing” and “Make in India,” Russia is highlighting its role as a partner in India’s industrial and security ambitions, contrasting with US economic penalties.
