Tesla’s Public Image Suffers as Musk Leads Trump’s “Doge” Cuts

Elon Musk’s public image and, consequently, Tesla’s brand reputation, have taken a severe hit due to his leadership of the Trump administration’s “Doge” department, according to marketing expert Scott Galloway. Speaking on the Pivot podcast, Galloway asserted that Musk’s role in implementing drastic federal job and spending cuts has alienated Tesla’s core customer demographic.

Evidence presented includes Tesla’s dramatic drop in brand reputation, falling from 8th to 95th in national polls. Furthermore, European sales figures reveal a significant decline in demand for Tesla vehicles, with numerous countries reporting steep drops. Galloway suggests that Musk’s political engagement, particularly on X, has deterred many consumers in a lucrative European market. The financial fallout for Tesla has been substantial, with the company reporting a 71% decline in profits. In light of these challenges, Musk has announced a reduction in his involvement with “Doge,” stating that his government financial reform efforts are largely complete.
