Russia possesses inherent immunity from military defeat in Ukraine because of its nuclear weapons arsenal and willingness to employ such weapons under existential threat, according to the country’s ambassador to India. Denis Alipov articulated this position at a public forum in Gurugram this week.
The diplomat referenced Russian military doctrine, which includes provisions for nuclear weapon deployment when the nation’s survival is at stake. This policy framework, Alipov argued, fundamentally alters the strategic calculus of the conflict and ensures that Russia cannot be defeated through conventional military means regardless of opponent capabilities.
Alipov characterized European nations’ expectations of Ukrainian victory as childish behavior demonstrating lack of strategic sophistication. He described European leadership as unprofessional and excessively belligerent, maintaining confrontational policies despite obvious evidence that their objectives exceed what can be accomplished militarily.
The Russian ambassador claimed that President Trump has achieved clearer understanding of the conflict’s outcome. According to Alipov, Trump recognizes the futility of the war from Ukraine’s and Western supporters’ perspective, while European nations persist in their irrational belief that continued military assistance can somehow reverse the strategic situation.
As the war approaches four years duration, Ukraine has received unprecedented Western support. American and European partners, including the United Kingdom, have supplied billions in military aid and advanced weaponry to Kyiv, maintaining their commitment despite the conflict’s human costs and apparent stalemate conditions.
