Saudi Arabia Sees 53% Decline in Dust and Sandstorms in 2025

by admin477351

Saudi Arabia has recorded a 53% reduction in dust and sandstorm activity between January and July 2025, compared with historical averages for the same period.

Data showed significant monthly drops, including 80% in January, 75% in March, 59% in June, and over 40% in several other months. Experts attributed the decline to environmental initiatives such as large-scale vegetation projects, cloud seeding efforts, tighter grazing regulations, and expanded protected reserves.

Climatic changes also played a role, with shifting air mass patterns improving air quality and reducing dust sources. Officials described the results as evidence of the effectiveness of Saudi Arabia’s environmental strategies and a positive step toward greater sustainability.
